There's been a lot of work in the last few days in the neighbourhood. And it's all weird. But then I say that about everything, don't I? Seems so. But it is strange... OK, so it's not strange at face value, I agree. I already knew that the realtor who purchased the lot next door had been prepping it for a house move. As in, he'd purchased a house and would have it moved to the lot, and wasn't building. But let me get the other neighbours out of the way first. So, they've been in the house about a year. They've also had a dog for about that long. Yet, three days ago, they started building. At first I couldn't even fathom what they were building. It really looked like they were building a structure, like a small building. Then yesterday... it's a fence. It's not weird that they built a fence. It's just weird, because the property has never had a fence in it's 45+ -ish years of existence. And as I said, it took them a year to decide on putting a fence up? And it's so strange. It cuts at all sorts of different right angles. Do they not know they can just make an L off their house, having it go straight to that chain link fence (that's there separating their property from the woods that are owned by someone else, who mows it, because... it's fun? I don't know why she mows the grass of the woods, but she does). And if they don't want to just stop and connect with that fence they could then just do one 90 degree turn towards the west; towards the back of their property. I've been over there and it's not like there are meters or water mains that they're trying to keep out of the fence, because that would make sense. No, it just comes off the house about 4 - 5 feet, then cuts back at a right angle and then cuts back at a right angle and goes a ways and then does another cut in and back before actually making the turn to go to the very back of their property. So, it is weird to me that there is a fence there now after all of these years, or that it took them so long to decide on that, but really the strangest thing is how they build the fence up. Or the fact that I know what a fence looks like going up as I've seen it a lot, or even had to repair ours before. Two days ago, dude was building a little building. Then yesterday it's just a fence. So that was weird too. So, back to the house that's been moved. It's hard to see them both but there are two trucks behind that trailer. The colour doesn't show, as they look light grey, but they are green. Almost army green that's faded. On my way back from the dentist the other day, I was going down this road and noticed that truck (without the 'Oversized Load' banner attached to its front) backing up near this house. I slowed down and actually noticed the truck, because it's not one I see a lot here. Or well... ever. It's not like your usual run of the mill towing truck, nor a heavy duty delivery truck, nor anything close to an 18 wheeler. No, it looked like an old WWII military truck in the front, which is why I noticed it and thought it was cool. So, before I left for the dentist, there were cops by my house and they were talking to the realtor, and I assumed it was because they were getting ready to move the house that day. It certainly looked that way. When I came home, the house was there. Later that day I noticed the trucks. I thought it was odd that I would even see that truck on that day and never before and it moved the house I had just driven by. That was the house that's going to live beside me now. I wouldn't have even connected it as the same house, except that I was driving The Sister to work and we took the same road and there at the exact same spot was a gaping wound in the landscape. That house was missing and all that was left were it's foundations. It had been ripped up and out. It hadn't been bulldozed, but moved. Exactly where I saw the truck that morning. It's also a house I always liked on that road. Very 50's with a ranch style layout and pretty iron work support beams for the front patio. I doubt he'll keep it this way, looking very 50's, but one can only hope he does!
