Tonight I was saving photos and came across The Pet Rock series. It was an entire month of photo prompts for your pet rock. I had a lot of fun with it, though that was two years ago now. However looking through the photos made me realize that I have never, in my life, conformed to gender standards.

The Dark Crystal, the fantasy adventure film from 1982 by Jim Henson, is my most favourite film of all time. There are quite a few that range up there with it from Indiana Jones to the original Star Wars trilogy just to name a few. But it's this one that ranks in the top spot. Most people that I encounter have never even heard of it and if they have they'll remark with, "Seriously?!" Yes, seriously.
They're bringing it back to theatres in February and there is a prequel set for Netflix, slated to come out next year. I was slightly disappointed that the sequel film, The Power of the Dark Crystal, never happened; though they've started a 12-issue comic series for it recently instead. I'm a little gun-shy on purchasing those and we'll discuss why, along with my love for the film. I'm not going to talk a lot about the current Commander in Chief on here, because, well... I don't talk about him much in life. But his asinine comment got me thinking about two things.
First off, Haiti & Africa, since these are the countries in which he was referring. I love the library. I love the idea of libraries. I love the storage of books and the lending of books and the smell of books. Triple points if it's a tiny and quaint library, if it's an older library (think mid-century), or if it's historic in some way and has that quentissential library feel of dark wood and library tables and lamps and is comforting, even if slightly foreboding.
